Ronnie

Ronnie has had a tough life. He is a young guy (early 20s) and lives in a skilled nursing facility. He is not able to breathe on his own and he has almost no head movement. John Breen from the Arkansas Spinal Cord Commission was able to help with funding, InvoTek donated a laptop, and through the support of generous donors, Be-X provides internet access through a "hotspot" that provides access to cellphone towers (there is no cable internet in the facility). Ronnie uses a program that scans through the letters of the alphabet -- and when the letter he wants to type is highlighted, he moves his jaw to hit a switch and select the letter. He is very fast at this! Carolyn (Be-X client advocate) helped Ronnie to take his ACT exam for college and Ronnie did well enough to get into school.

Ronnie recently began taking courses on edX (an online noncredit college course provider). He is taking 3 classes right now (10/2/15) and will begin another in December. We are still working on getting him into college. This is a long road. We really need your help.

In the video below, watch Ronnie demonstrate using an eye tracking system to text a friend and talk with Tom Jakobs about his experience with Be Extraordinary.
